Wilmslow Town is deeply saddened to share that one of the club’s founding members and former secretary, John Nugent, has recently passed away.
John was a key figure in the formation of Wilmslow Town in 2008 and served as the Club’s first secretary from the Club’s formation until 2017 when he resigned following 9 years of selfless service.
A passionate Liverpool FC fan, John’s love of football and dedication to the game was visible beyond just his work as secretary, John served as assistant manager and later team manager at Wilmslow Town as his son, Jamie, progressed through all our age groups.
John was a loving husband, father, brother and son. Everybody at Wilmslow Town sends their most sincere condolences to his wife, Helen, son, Jamie, and the rest of the Nugent family.
John will be fondly remembered by many of our members, all of whom can reflect on his immense contribution to the community and grassroots football in Wilmslow.

Wilmslow Town will be joining in with the country-wide initiative from the FA this weekend (Sat 5/11 – Sun 6/11) #SilentSidelines
We want to promote good behaviour and respect in Youth Football
We’re encouraging spectators and coaches to show their support and respect during the match through applause only. This will reduce pressure and confusion and give players a better opportunity to find their own voice and solutions to develop their game.
So, all you have to do is
Enjoy the fixtures this weekend

Good luck to all our Wilmslow Town F.C. teams on the opening weekend of the 22/23 season
Two quotes from legendary sports stars, Tony Romo (NFL – Dallas Cowboys) & Michael Jordan (NBA – Chicago Bulls), to inspire you and give you perspective this weekend
“The first game of the year is always an in-season adjustment game”
Tony Romo
“Just play, have fun, enjoy the game”
Michael Jordan
Don’t worry about the results this weekend, it’s a long season, let’s go out there, play hard, have fun, and be grateful that football is back
Come On The Town!
As a long-standing patron of The Football Association, Wilmslow Town FC shares the grief of the wider football community and the nation in mourning the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Our new website has arrived – but bear with us!
We’re still missing some content and a couple managerial changes yet to be finalised (agents, lawyers, mega-money – these things take time).
We hope you like it. Still to come!
